Most travelers apply for the standard passport and that comes with 28 pages. Unfortunately, the 28 page passport book only has 17 pages that are available for visas and entry/ exit stamps. The standard passport is valid for ten years, so for many travelers these 17 pages are enough. Some frequent travelers may find themselves needing more visa pages. In this situation you can apply for additional pages. If your passport is valid, undamaged and not expired, you can add pages to your passport. Passport pages are added in packets of 24 pages at a time. You may request to have up to two packets added at a time for the Add Pages Fee.

If your passport will expire soon, you may consider just renewing your passport now. Most countries have certain restrictions and may not allow you to enter if you have less than six months validity remaining on your passport. Since expediting additional pages will cost $142 in government fees, you can renew your passport for $170. Renewing a passport means you will get a new passport (and the old one returned to you). The passport will be valid for ten years.

How many blank pages come with a new passport?

Standard passport books have 17 blank pages, but you can actually start with more! Frequent travelers should consider requesting the 52 page passport book when applying for a passport. New passport and renewal passport applicants can request the 52 page passport book for no additional cost. Of those 52 pages, 43 pages are blank and available for visas and entry/ exit stamps. To request a larger (52 page) passport book at no additional cost, simply check the ’52 page’ box at the top of your passport application.
